In the heart of Alta Valtellina, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Alps, Bormio brings together ancient thermal traditions, unspoiled nature, and the unmistakable flavors of mountain cuisine: a weekend here is a sensory journey full of surprises.
Bormio is the guardian of ancient waters. Nine thermal springs flow naturally from the slopes of the Stelvio National Park, feeding a wellness tradition that dates back to Roman times. It is right here, where warm water meets rock, that our two spa centers are located: QC Bagni Vecchi and Bagni Nuovi—two unique experiences where past and present intertwine in a slow, regenerative journey. Carved into the rock and frequented since Roman times, Bagni Vecchi offer a truly unique atmosphere. Here you can immerse yourself in panoramic pools overlooking the valley, explore Roman caves, or experience the San Martino sweat grotto—a natural steam bath leading to one of the original thermal springs: a magical place where every corner tells a story.
Just a short distance away, Bagni Nuovi offer a different yet equally captivating experience: a Belle Époque gem immersed in alpine nature, surrounded by forest scents and mountain silence. The thermal path unfolds through gardens, outdoor panoramic pools, and sensory spaces. Every element—from waterfalls to Vichy showers—is designed to regenerate body and mind in constant dialogue with the surrounding landscape. The wellness experience continues with a stay at the Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi, an elegant Art Nouveau building with bright, spacious rooms, or at Hotel Bagni Vecchi, a charming and romantic alpine retreat. Not to mention Villa Bagni di Bormio, with its cozy and carefully designed apartments.
Just steps from the spa lies one of Europe’s most fascinating natural parks: Stelvio National Park. Here, the mountains reveal their most authentic side, with forests, crystal-clear streams, and wildlife. Hiking enthusiasts will find an endless network of trails, from easy walks to panoramic excursions. From Bormio, you can enjoy gentle strolls along streams and larch forests or head up to alpine huts with views of glaciers and towering peaks. High-altitude treks offer spectacular views of the Ortles-Cevedale range, while valley routes immerse you in more intimate nature. Spotting deer, ibex, or golden eagles is not uncommon—wildlife is a silent protagonist of this protected ecosystem.
Among the most scenic excursions are the famous Cancano Lakes, two large artificial basins set on a plateau reminiscent of Nordic landscapes. The trail surrounding them is perfect for walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the silence and beauty of the scenery.
Bormio is famous for its natural thermal springs, active for over two thousand years. The “Water Tour” allows visitors to discover historic sources, Roman baths, and spa establishments that made the town famous since ancient times. These mineral-rich waters flow at different temperatures, creating a unique heritage in Europe.
A weekend in Bormio is also a culinary journey. Valtellina cuisine is hearty, authentic, and deeply rooted in the territory: from pizzoccheri (buckwheat pasta with cabbage, potatoes, and cheese), to crispy sciatt with melted cheese, to the famous bresaola, best enjoyed with a glass of structured local red wine.
Walking through Bormio’s center means discovering historic buildings and churches in a village that was once a key trade crossroads between Italy and Northern Europe. Traditions, craftsmanship, and festivals keep alpine identity alive.
Friday evening: arrival in Bormio, traditional dinner, and a stroll through the village. Saturday: morning in Stelvio Park or Cancano Lakes, afternoon relaxing at Bagni Vecchi or Nuovi, with an unmissable sunset aperitif in a bathrobe.
Sunday: Water Tour and Valtellina lunch before departure.
